Huawei has commenced its 2019 innings with the launch of a new mid-range smartphone in Sri Lanka. Dubbed the Huawei Y9 (2019), the smartphone was released in China back in October 2018 and is the successor to the Y9 (2018). The latest cell phone from the Chinese smartphone gigantic, which overtook Apple to become the world’s second-largest manufacturer in 2018, is operated by Huawei’s custom Kirin 710 SoC featuring AI-enhanced cameras, a notched display, dual rear and front cameras, and Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box.
The Huawei Y9 (2019) suits easily in the palm of the hand and seems big and solid. The plastic back has a high-gloss finish in a bid to mimic glass. It appears stylish but gets smudged without difficulty. An instance is advised to improve grip, as the phone is very smooth. There are two colour variants available – Midnight Black and Sapphire Blue.
The up and down oriented dual-camera module is situated in the upper right corner of the cell phone, with the words AI camera imprinted beneath it. Additionally, there is a centrally located fingerprint sensor and a Huawei logo at the base right. The power button and volume rocker are put on the right fringe of the phone, and the left side houses the SIM tray, that has individual slots for two Nano SIMs and a microSD card.

The notch is just about the new regular in smartphone design and the Huawei Y9 (2019) also holds the design trend.
